SOUND

Mapalé is a Latin music band based in Toronto.  Mapalés traditional and original compositions are a celebration of Latin rhythms including Salsa, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bossa Nova, Samba, Cumbia and Bolero.

Their sound reflects the power and energy of the South American rainforest and the hot rhythms of the Latin beaches.  Mapalés colourful performances invite audience participation and never fail to keep the crowd moving to their infectious rhythms.

Carlos Bastidas is the artistic director of the band; he is a professional musician and music educator in the Toronto area.

Mapalé's performances include: Aylmer, Quebec, Ottawa Hispanic Festival, The Latin Quarter Café in Vancouver, Canadian Memorial Centre for Peace, Vancouver, Concert for peace in Colombia in Vancouver.

They are working on the release of their CD for the summer of 2004.
