INTRODUCTION

Parkdale Mosaic Association (PMA) will hold its 2nd Annual Parkdale Cultural Mosaic Festival on June 12, 2004.  The Festival will take place on Cowan Avenue.  Mosaic Main Stage performances will be staged in Masaryk-Cowan Park and in front of Parkdale Public Library. Workshops will be held in the library throughout the day.  The evening program will present Mosaic HeatWave: Rhythm of the Street, the region's 1st Annual Multicultural Street Dance.

 

The 2nd Annual Parkdale Cultural Mosaic Festival is an unique opportunity for residents and visitors to Parkdale to enjoy their neighbours cultural heritages and proudly celebrate their own ethnicity with the Parkdale Community.

 

ORGANIZATION HISTORY

Parkdale Mosaic Association (PMA) was founded in 2003 by Dilorece South for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of increasing understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures, to improve relations among ethnic groups of the Parkdale Community and increasingly throughout the City of Toronto.

 
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Mosaic Main Stage
 Professional artists from diverse cultures will perform live music and dance, on an outdoor stage, to present heritage artworks.    A fusion of cultural traditions and art will create a dynamic experience for the Festival Audience through delivering a rich sensual representation of Torontos cultural diversity.

Mosaic HeatWave: Rhythm of the Street

The Parkdale Cultural Mosaic Festivals 1st Annual Street Dance comes spiced up and dished out in beats and rhythms of all flavours.  This is an excellent opportunity for residents and visitors to Parkdale to socially interact in a safe supervised environment and enjoy an unique evening united in the universal language of music.  Mosaic HeatWave: Rhythm of the Street; 2004 will feature sounds of rhythms around the world.  In future years, prominent Disc Jockeys of ethnic Communities will be invited to bring the latest beats from the streets of their heritage lands.
